Chief Executive Officer of the Vanarama National League

Michael is the CEO of The National League, the leading football league for professional and semi-professional football clubs in England and Wales. He is responsible for implementing the League’s strategic plan, ensures the integrity of its competitions and manages its broadcasting, sponsorships and other commercial relationships.

Michael was formerly Deputy Operations Director of The Football League where he made a significant contribution to the development of professional football over his 12 years’ service. He led the league’s player registrations, youth development and fixtures operations and has managed over 60 finals at Wembley and the Millennium Stadium. He has also been CEO of Scottish Netball, Licensing Manager for the Football Association of Ireland and has served as a director of Professional Game Match Officials Limited.

A graduate of the London School of Economics (BSc Management), Michael trained as an investment banker before completing his Masters studies with the University of Neuchatel (Switzerland) and FIFA. Michael supports both Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Warriors.
