All course purchases are subject to the relevant terms and conditions set out below.

By ticking the box on the Checkout Page you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.

1. In person, online ‘live’ and blended courses purchases

  • Places should be purchased in advance via the GIS website (or by completing the online application form if appropriate).
  • All purchases for seats on these courses are subject to availability.
  • If a course sells out the customer will have the opportunity to put their name on a waiting list.
    GIS reserves the right to not accept the purchase of a seat on the course.
  • A purchase should only be deemed as accepted when GIS issues a booking acknowledgement email.

1.1 Payment of fees

  • Payment must be made in full in advance of the start date through the GIS website.
    All fees are charged in GBP.
  • GIS reserves the right to refuse an attendee access/entry to a course if the course fee is not paid in full before the date of the course.

1.2 Cancellation and refunds

Refunds will only be made in the following circumstances:

  • The course is cancelled by GIS. In these circumstances a full refund will be given.
  • The prospective participant gives notice in writing to profed@UCFB.ac.uk no less than 7 days prior to the first day of the course. In these circumstances a refund will be given less a 20% cancellation fee.
  • No refund will be given for cancellations made with less than 7 days’ written notice to profed@ucfb.ac.uk.
  • In extenuating circumstances, a place on a future course may be provided at the discretion of GIS.

1.3 Delivery of courses

  • Courses are delivered subject to demand. If there is insufficient demand, notice of cancellation will be given at the earliest opportunity (but will be at least one week's notice) and fees will be returned in full.
  • An alternative date may be offered if available and the prospective participant agrees.
  • No liability can be accepted for any non-refundable costs or expenses incurred.
  • GIS reserves the right to cancel courses at the last minute in the event of significant issues arising outside of our control (for example, but not limited to, illness of a presenter, act of terrorism, severe weather affecting facilities, pandemic).
  • In such instances GIS will provide a full refund, and/or an alternative date if that is available.
    Joining instructions will be sent out no later than 48 hours before the start date.


2. On-demand online course purchases

2.1 Making a purchase

  • Access to a course should be purchased via the GIS website.
  • All fees are charged in GBP.
  • Courses displayed and sold through the GIS website remain the property of GIS Professional Education at all times.
  • When purchasing a course you are buying a non-exclusive licence to use that product.
  • When you purchase a course, you provide us with your permission to supply you with the means to access the course you have purchased.
  • Once payment has been made you will be sent an email with the details of your purchase.

2.2 Course Access and Licence Periods

  • All course licences have a fixed duration, as specified in the course details.
  • The licence period starts when you receive your login details OR you receive your login details as part of an invitation to access the course on a specified date.
  • If you are a business purchasing course access for your staff the licence starts for a member of staff when they receive their login details.
  • When you place your order and make payment, the personal details you provided are used to automate your enrolment on to the course/s you have purchased.
  • Login details will be emailed to the purchaser, followed by a course enrolment email.
  • Unless described otherwise by GIS you must not copy, modify or re-produce a non-original version of the course you purchase, or loan, lease, sell or distribute any of the content.

2.3 Cancellation and refunds

  • Refund requests should be made by email to profed@ucfb.ac.uk.
  • A full refund will be issued if a purchased online course has not been accessed and the refund claim is made within 14 days of the purchase.
  • If you are a consumer, please note that you waive your right to a refund under The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2015 if you access the course.
  • Up until this point, and within fourteen days of making your purchase, you may cancel your purchase by contacting us in writing and we will issue a full refund.

3. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018

4. Course discounts

  • Any discount offered is limited to the product specified and is not valid to use on any other GIS/UCFB product.
  • Discounts have no equivalent cash value.
  • Any discount offered will be withdrawn if discounts codes/links are shared with others.
  • GIS/UCFB reserve the right to modify or end any discounting promotion at any time.
  • Requests for Postgraduate Loyalty and Alumni discounts will be verified against UCFB/GIS student records.
