Induction timetable

Induction week begins on Monday 20th September and will take place on campus. Your induction timetable will be sent out at least one week before, so please keep an eye on your emails for this.

This will include in-person introductions from our Academic, IT, Student Services, Facilities and Employability & Enrichment teams as well as a mix of sporting and social activities, and exclusive guest speaker sessions to allow you to meet your classmates and start building your network in the global sports industry.

Teaching timetables will be made available to students via our student portal, during your induction week.

You'll be provided with login details for the UCFB Online Hub via email separately.

Freshers’ week

We want you to be able to foster lifelong relationships with your fellow students and the UCFB team, and have a positive student and social experience in 2021/22. We believe this is an important aspect of your life at UCFB.

We are therefore planning a number of in-person events and activities for freshers’ and orientation week as well as throughout the academic year, in line with government guidance, to ensure that you can form and build the relationships with your fellow students that we know are key to your time with us.

Our freshers’ and orientation week has been designed to allow you to explore your city and get to know your classmates. This will run alongside induction week from Monday 20th September. Further details will be sent out at least one week before, so please keep an eye on your emails for this. All freshers’ and orientation week activities will be free for students.

Welcome gift

To help with your studies this year, all students will receive a pack of welcome gifts including an octopus charging cable, trolley coin keyring, sports towel, academic wall planner and a reusable metal straw.

Academic delivery

Following the government’s announcement that England will enter Step 4 of the government roadmap from 19th July and following their guidance for higher education that states that “there will no longer be restrictions on the approach to teaching and learning in higher education”, we’re delighted to confirm that we are planning for a full return to face-to-face teaching from September 2021.

Our approach during the academic year will be in line with the government guidance, as well as in collaboration with our validating partners and venue partners, as it has been throughout the pandemic. Further details on how we will be operating in the current situation and how we will adapt to changes in circumstances can be found in our COVID Secure Campus Guidelines.

For more information, please visit our 2021/22 delivery FAQs page.

We are planning for our sports teams to return to training from September wherever sporting governing bodies allow this. Trials will also begin early in Semester 1. In addition to the sports teams, we will continue to support students who wish to compete and participate in other individual sports.

We are still awaiting confirmation that the BUCS leagues will return for the 2021/22 academic year so we will confirm once we are able to do so whether there will be competitive fixtures.

The UCFB Academies in London and Manchester will start as planned in September. We aim to provide training for both academies as well as friendlies and competitive fixtures throughout the year, subject to government and governing body guidelines. Trials for the academies will also take place in September.

We are following the government’s return to recreational team sport framework and the guidance from each sport’s governing body. More information can be found on the government website. Further details on each individual sport will be provided during your induction and orientation.
