The MSc Sports Directorship will qualify you for one of the most important roles today in modern global sport, that of Sporting Director, and critically, will provide you with the skills, knowledge and experience to equip you to sit in a strategic leadership role in a sporting organisation. This two-year part-time course teaches a unique curriculum, tailored to meet the real demands of leading sports organisations. Discover more.

Campus Facilities
We understand it is difficult for students to visit us on campus at the moment so our Future Students Team have put together a short tour to show you all of our pioneering facilities.

With the iconic Wembley Stadium at its heart, our Wembley campus provides a truly inspiring learning environment with world-class facilities in one of the most exciting cities in the world.
Facilities available at Wembley include:
- Wembley Stadium - the heart of GIS' Wembley campus;
- The Hive, London - home to UCFB's Undergraduate Women's Academy;
- Bridge Park Community Leisure Centre - is a multi-sport leisure centre;
- The Drum Theatre & Conference Centre - Located directly opposite Wembley Stadium, The Drum is a contemporary events space at the heart of the regeneration of Brent. As well as modern event areas, the facility offers onsite catering and benefits from its great accessibility to central London;
- Vale Farm Sports Centre - Just a short walk from North Wembley Underground station (Bakerloo), Vale Farm features a number of facilities including a 3G football pitch, tennis courts, a state-of-the-art gym and sports hall for numerous sporting activities;
- UCFB Study Hub - a modern student facility includes a library, study hub and social space, as well as pastoral and learning support drop-in services;
- Purushottam Mahal Sports Hall - Part of the Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Complex in Kingsbury, the sports hall is just a short walk from Kingsbury Underground Station (Jubilee);
- Forum House – the home of the UCFB Study Hub, library, media suite and contemporary lecture theatres;
- Crescent House – features modern learning spaces;
- Hendon FC – home to various UCFB football teams and practical and theoretical teaching space for coaching programmes.

Etihad Campus is our state-of-the-art campus devoted to the football industry in the heart of Manchester – one of the world’s most famous footballing cities with a thriving student population.
Facilities available at Etihad Campus include:
- Etihad Stadium - The 55,000 capacity Etihad Stadium sits at the heart the Etihad Campus;
- Manchester Sports Village, Belle Vue - the teaching location for all non-football students at UCFB Etihad Campus;
- Curzon Ashton - UCFB utilises the facilities available at Curzon Ashton including a 3G pitch;
- National Basketball Centre - The National Basketball Centre, located next to Manchester Sports Village, boasts three courts with markings for basketball and netball. It also includes a leisure centre, dance studio and community gym;
- UCFB Study Hub @ Piccadilly Place – Located directly opposite Piccadilly Station and in the heart of Manchester, this brand new modern student facility;
- Manchester Regional Arena – an eight-lane track and field arena with capacity for 6,500 spectators. The space was originally used as a warm-up area during the 2002 Commonwealth Games;
- National Squash Centre – the home England Squash and Manchester Squash Club;
- Manchester Tennis & Football Centre – a mix of six indoor and three outdoor courts fully floodlit to LTA standards, along with three 5-a-side 3G football pitches;
- The National Speedway Stadium – home to Belle Vue Aces and a number of teaching spaces;
- The National Cycling Centre – one of the world’s finest and fastest board tracks, home of British Cycling and the UK’s only permanent indoor BMX track;
- Ten Acres Lane Sports Complex – home of the National Taekwondo Centre. Facility also provides a modern 3G football pitch.

UCFB Online Hub
For those looking to study their degree online, the UCFB Online Hub is an easy-to-use platform, available on mobile, tablet and desktop, and designed with working professionals in mind. This allows you the flexibility to study on days of the week and times of the day that accommodate your other commitments within the deadlines of your programme.
In addition to this, the Hub also acts as the primary learning resource for all GIS Online & Blended students.

Global Study Hubs
From the 2020/21 academic year all GIS students, including those studying online, and alumni have access to UCFB’s global study hubs which are located in some of the world’s most exciting sports destinations. New York’s Red Bull Arena, Atlanta’s brand new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Toronto FC’s BMO Field and the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will all play host to UCFB around the world, enabling students and graduates to enhance their knowledge and expertise of the international sports industry.

Accommodation
UCFB has partnered with two excellent accommodation providers to ensure students have access to comfortable and secure halls of residence close to both campuses.
Unite Students 1st Way, Wembley, and Liberty Point, Manchester, are available for students studying at UCFB in 2020/21.
UCFB has partnered with Unite Students 1st Way to offer UCFB Wembley students vibrant, safe and centrally-located student accommodation in the heart of Wembley.

Postgraduate Student Finance

Means-tested bursaries are intended to assist undergraduate applicants who genuinely require financial assistance with the cost of studying. Means-tested bursaries are available for students at UCFB Wembley and UCFB Etihad Campus.
A large number of scholarships are also available recognising a variety of achievements such as outstanding female applicants, aspiring media personnel and elite athletes.
Our scholarships are available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The Student Services Team is here to support you across a wide range of areas throughout your studies at GIS, offering personal and academic support.

The Students’ Union’s role is to represent GIS students and make your time here as exciting and rewarding as possible. The SU is also responsible for student involvement around each campus, such as planning unforgettable social events and being the student voice and point of contact with senior management.


The UCFB Athletic Union enables students to take part in a number of sports during their time here, whether competitive or recreational. We have teams across both campuses for male and female students, including football, rugby, squash and basketball, with more sports being added all the time.

Our unique three-fold learning model spans beyond the classroom to maximise student career prospects. In addition to your degree, you will have opportunities to bring the theory to life by hearing from inspirational guest speakers and apply it through industry-relevant work experience.

UCFB empowers its students to build on their personal, professional and academic journey at UCFB and ultimately build towards their career upon graduation. Students will be awarded a gold, silver or bronze award depending how many sessions and enrichment programmes they attend during their time at UCFB. Each of a student’s three academic years carry a different level of engagement requirements to attain the award.

The unique opportunities available at GIS to undertake work placements within the football and sports industry will enable you to develop your skills and knowledge further, while experiencing first-hand what it’s like to work in this fast-paced and exciting environment. This means you will have the opportunity to graduate from GIS with not only a fantastic university degree, but also an impressive CV with a number of important work experiences under your belt.

Students at GIS have the opportunity to learn from senior practitioners in the football and sports business.
In our Executive Guest Speaker Series, guest speakers visit GIS to deliver lectures to students on an area of their expertise and to answer questions.
Previous guest speakers include England manager Gareth Southgate, Manchester United legend Roy Keane and Sky Sports presenter Hayley McQueen.
