Graduate Leah Jakeman cannot emphasise enough the importance of networking and grasping all the opportunities available to students during their time at UCFB.

Before landing her job as a Legal Secretary at Ramsdens Solicitors, Leah undertook a number of work placements in a variety of roles, not just law firms, including working as a Team Liaison Officer for The FA. Leah’s advice to all students is simply to make the most of the opportunities and grab them with both hands.

During her time at UCFB, Leah, who studied BA (Hons) Football Business & Finance, also worked part-time at Burnley FC which gave her the opportunity to meet key individuals, network, and make a name for herself.

She is now set to take on her Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) alongside her work as Legal Secretary at Ramsdens. Leah’s job sees her working mainly in commercial property, though the company’s sport department could open further doors for her down the line.

Leah said: “I am extremely grateful for this amazing opportunity I have been given at Ramsdens. It just goes to show you that ‘you only get out of life what you put in’ – as quoted in my original personal statement to apply to UCFB. I have showed what a personable, and impressionable individual I am and that has gone a long way. Juggling study, a part-time job and experience in the profession I wish to pursue has been difficult but the hard-work has certainly paid off.”
