UCFB is delighted to announce that former Burnley FC captain Clarke Carlise and England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis will be talking to students this week as part of the Executive Guest Speaker Series.

Clarke, who was part of Burnley’s promotion winning team at Wembley in 2009 and Rachel, who is also a member of the UCFB Employability & Enrichment Panel, will appear at UCFB Wembley and UCFB Etihad Campus respectively on Wednesday 5th October.

Clarke Carlisle

An imposing central defender who enjoyed a highly successful 16 year career in professional football at the likes of QPR, Leeds and Northampton Town, Clarke was dubbed “Britain’s Brainiest Footballer” on a TV game show and was a respected Chairman of the Professional Footballers’ Association.

Following a career that included Man of the Match honours as Burnley gained promotion to the Premier League in 2009’s Championship Playoff Final, he has maintained an active role as an ambassador for anti-racism charity Kick It Out and a diverse media career.

A passionate speaker on issues surrounding mental health in sport, Clarke’s expertise is of immense value to UCFB students and staff as a Tutorial Coordinator.

Selected in 2012 to be a part of Team GB at the London Olympics, she has enjoyed a successful transition into sports broadcasting following her retirement, and is regularly seen on the BBC and BT Sport.

With her experience in the world of sport and as a qualified teacher, Rachel is able to provide students with a comprehensive insight of the industry.
