One of our coaching students has been speaking of the joy he is having after having been named manager of the UCFB Etihad Women’s Team.

Daniel Golding, a BA (Hons) Football Coaching and Talent Development student, has previously coached, analysed and scouted opponents for the UCFB Seconds.

His experience in the university setup led to him applying for a management role within the system.

He said: “I laid out my plans, structure and vision for the project and excitingly I was given the Women's team.”

Daniel also spoke very highly of the staff at the team who have stayed, as well as the new members of the team.

“Every person that I have dealt with so far the team has been very positive about the new season,” Daniel said.

“I am looking forward to showing what I can bring to the table but to also prove to myself that I can take such a role where I can create a project we can be proud of, one that not only will be successful next season but to pave the way for a structure for the future of UCFB Women's football.”

He is joining a team with a winning mentality, after the team won their league in the last minute of the final game of the season – a game Daniel was behind the goal for.

Talking of playing in a new league, he said: “The feeling I have from the players and staff is that they are as hungry as we are. We're not going to go into this league hoping to stay in it or aim for mid-table, we are aiming to win!

“I think that this Women's team has an incredible opportunity to create a bit of our own history and we are here to put them in the best position to do that.”
