Following the appearances of Alex McLeish and Chris Powell at the UCFB Wembley Taster Days, we’re delighted to announce that the headline guest speakers for this year’s UCFB Etihad Campus Taster Days are world-famous managers David Moyes and Stuart Pearce.

Through a close partnership with the League Managers Association (LMA), UCFB has been able to secure the appearances of the vastly experienced duo to provide applicants with a first-hand insight into the world of elite sport.

David Moyes

Former centre-half David Moyes made over 540 appearances as a footballer, starting at Celtic and ending at Preston North End. At Preston, Moyes became a coach before making the transition from a player to the manager of the club in 1998. Having prepared for management for much of his playing career, taking his coaching badges at the age of 22, Moyes was an immediate managerial success and guided Preston to the Division Two title in 2000 and Division One playoffs the following year.

The successful spell at the Lancashire club led Moyes to the English Premier League when he signed for Everton in 2002. On Merseyside Moyes quickly established himself as one of the country’s finest managers, leading Everton from a relegation-threatened club to the UEFA Champions League qualifying round in 2005 and the FA Cup final in 2009. Having enjoyed a highly successful 11 year tenure with Everton, Moyes was hand-picked to replace the irreplaceable Sir Alex Ferguson as the manager of Manchester United in 2013, winning the FA Community Shield in his season in charge. His most recent management role was with Real Sociedad in La Liga from 2014 to 2015.

David will be speaking at the UCFB Etihad Campus Taster Day on Friday 4th March.

Stuart Pearce

One of English football’s most iconic figures, Stuart Pearce began his professional career at Coventry City in 1983 before going on to play over 400 games for Nottingham Forest over a 12 year period, a large proportion of which as captain. Distinguished defender Pearce also played for Newcastle United, West Ham United and Manchester City in the Premier League. Part of the most successful England setup since the 1966 FIFA World Cup winners, Pearce represented his country on 77 occasions, as captain for nine, and was part of the England team that reached the semi-finals in the 1990 FIFA World Cup and 1996 UEFA European Championships.

Replacing fellow legend of the game, Kevin Keegan, Pearce got his first full time management role at Manchester City. A highly respected youth team coach, Pearce managed the England Under 21s for six years, successfully breeding a number of today’s senior squad, and guided the team to the final of the 2009 UEFA Under 21 Championships. Proud patriot Pearce also managed the Great Britain Olympic football team in the 2012 London Olympics.

Stuart will be speaking at the UCFB Etihad Campus Taster Day on Friday 11th March.

All UCFB Etihad Campus 2016 undergraduate applicants have been invited to the Taster Days, which will provide an insight into living, working and studying within the heart of the sport and events industries at UCFB Etihad Campus, inside the Eithad Stadium in Manchester.
