UCFB is delighted to announce that former Burnley FC striker and chief executive Paul Fletcher will speak to prospective students at the UCFB Etihad Campus as part of a unique Taster Day event.

Fletcher, who is a director at UCFB, will appear as guest speaker at the Manchester campus on Saturday 11th February to give a flavour of UCFB life and talk about his colourful career on the pitch and in the boardroom.

After beginning his playing career at Bolton Wanderers, Fletcher moved to Burnley where he went on to become a club legend. His most famous moment as a player came when he scored the “goal of the decade” with a bicycle kick from the edge of the area in a 4-1 win over Don Revie’s revered Leeds United in 1974 – see the video below.

After retiring from the game due to a serious leg injury, Fletcher went on to make a name for himself in the boardrooms at some of the biggest names in English football, as well becoming a leading expert on football stadia.

He’s previously been chief executive at Burnley, Huddersfield Town, Bolton Wanders and was managing director at Coventry City. Fletcher was instrumental in the construction of Bolton, Huddersfield and Coventry’s new stadiums, as well as the new Wembley Stadium, home of UCFB Wembley.

Fletcher was awarded an MBE in 2007 for his services to football.

Paul Fletcher will be the introductory guest speaker for prospective students booked onto the morning session of the UCFB Etihad Campus Taster Day on Saturday 11th February. He will also appear in the afternoon for prospective BA (Hons) International Football Business students.
