UCFB is delighted to announce that former Liverpool scout Mel Johnson will be talking to students this week as part of the Executive Guest Speaker Series.

Johnson, who has also worked for Tottenham Hotspur, will appear at UCFB Wembley on Tuesday 31st January.

Mel Johnson

Johnson has spent many hours travelling the world assessing footballers and offers a fascinating insight into the life of a football scout, and how football clubs operate their scouting systems.

He has worked for clubs including QPR, West Bromwich Albion, and perhaps most famously at Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool. At Spurs, he was heavily involved in the transfer of Gareth Bale to White Hart Lane from Southampton, and was applauded at Anfield for the discovery of rising star Jordan Ibe.

Mel was also the subject of The Nowhere Men, a fantastic book by Michael Calvin which offers an insight into the world of the football scout and won The Times British Sports Book Award 2014.

Mel Johnson will appear at UCFB Wembley in Pitch View West at 11am.
