UCFB Etihad Campus’ Head of Academics Dr. Gerald Griggs has launched a “one-stop shop” hub for physical primary education practitioners.

The Primary Physical Education Assembly (PPEA) has been set up for those who want to “KNOW more, DO something or INSPIRE others” in the field. Gerald, a leading scholar in primary physical education, co-founded the PPEA alongside Dr. Vicky Randall, a senior fellow at the University of Winchester.

The aims of the PPEA are to:

  • Improve the confidence and competence of all children who participate in primary physical education;
  • Further the improvement of primary physical education practice;
  • Bring together stakeholders who have a shared interest in primary physical education;
  • Advocate Primary Physical Education as a school subject.

Alongside Vicky, Gerald aims for the PPEA to act as a resource for those in the field, and those aspiring to enter it and move it forward. The newly built website, which is thought to be the first of its kind, contains lists and links to books and academic papers around primary physical education, all of which are widely available to both practitioners and the general public.

One of the most respected names in primary physical education, Gerald has previously addressed the All-Party Parliamentary Group on a Fit and Healthy Childhood in Westminster on the training, funding and quality of provision in the sector, as well as his recommendations for its future.
