One of Global Institute of Sport’s Deans has expressed how impressed he is with the pioneering partnership between Tottenham Hotspur and Formula 1, after an interview he had on the BBC.
Dr Nick Wilde, Dean of School for Sport Business and Management, was interviewed on BBC London when the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium opened back in 2019.
During the interview, he was asked about how Spurs would be able to pay the money back they had borrowed to build the stadium.
He focused on the multi-functional use of the stadium, and their partnership with the NFL.
He was clear that the new stadium was a major game changer for Tottenham and that he fully expected them to take advantage of the retractable pitch.
In addition to the partnership with the NFL, Tottenham have now entered into a 15-year partnership with Formula 1, which will house an indoor karting track below the stadium.

The partnership will focus on developing careers in the motorsport industry, with Spurs set to also launch a driver academy programme to find the next generation of F1 drivers.
Tottenham will also run educational programmes for schools and encourage sustainability initiatives.
According to the Tottenham Hotspur website, their new entertainment activities bring an extra £300 million a year into the local economy and show their continued commitment to addressing environmental sustainability.
Dr Nick said: “This week’s announcement further highlights chairman Daniel Levy’s commitment to generate additional revenue and support their local community.”
