Liverpool FC legend and Sky Sports analyst Jamie Carragher gave a guest lecture to UCFB Burnley students this week.

Jamie is considered to be one of Liverpool FC’s greatest ever players; he made 737 appearances for the Merseyside club and played a crucial role in the famous Champions League winning side in Istanbul in 2005.

After a sparkling career on the field, the Kop icon made a seamless transition into the media world as a pundit with Sky Sports, so when UCFB Burnley students heard that the Liverpool legend was coming to Turf Moor to give an exclusive guest lecture this Monday, the excitement was palpable.

Jamie spoke with enthusiasm on a variety of subjects including his incredible career at Liverpool, his role with Sky Sports and his thoughts on the current Premier League season.

Students were then given the opportunity to pose further questions in an open Q&A session before Jamie chatted with our own Paul Tyrrell (former Director of Communications for Liverpool FC, Manchester City and Everton) about the prospect of students studying degrees at our campus within Turf Moor.

Jamie said, “It gives you that extra buzz if you are involved in the game and you can go into a football club to go on and achieve it.”

Of the Q&A he said, “I enjoyed it and I hope the students enjoyed it. It’s nice for me to pass on my experiences in football and in the media because these students are looking to go into different areas of the game. Hopefully I’ve helped them. The students were very articulate and you could tell a lot of thought went into their questions.”

We would like to thank Jamie Carragher for taking the time to visit the UCFB Burnley campus to speak to our students.

Jamie was the first guest speaker at UCFB Burnley this term, with more prominent members of the football community set to appear throughout the year.
