Kevin Nolan

Starting his career at Bolton Wanderers in 1999, Nolan went on to make nearly 350 appearances for the North West side under Sam Allardyce, becoming club captain in 2006.

A talented box-to-box midfielder with an eye for goal, he gained a reputation as one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League, earning a £4 million transfer to Newcastle in 2009.

After experiencing relegation to the Championship in his first season on Tyneside, Nolan played a central role in the club’s push for promotion the following season, being voted the division’s Player of the Year at the end of the campaign.

Named as club captain on Newcastle’s return to the top flight, he scored his first Premier League hat-trick in the Tyne–Wear derby against Sunderland in a 5–1 home win.

Reunited with Sam Allardyce at West Ham in 2011, Nolan was immediately made captain and led the Hammers to a Championship play-off Final win against Blackpool to ensure a return to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Staying in East London, Nolan then moved into management taking up a player-manager role at Leyton Orient, guiding the club to within two points of the play-offs. He then took up a similar role at Notts County, helping the club avoid relegation from League Two and steering them to second in the league in September 2017, winning the EFL League Two Manager of the Month award in the process, the first honour of his managerial career.
