Just three days into the new term at UCFB Burnley, students of each academic discipline from all three years were treated to an insight from one of the most recognisable faces in British football, Jamie Carragher.

The former England International and Liverpool vice-captain gave an unprecedented insight into his seventeen year top-flight footballing career and seamless transition into sports media during a Q&A with former Liverpool, Everton and Manchester City Director or Communications, Paul Tyrrell. Students at UCFB were also given the unique opportunity to ask questions of their own in an open floor discussion.

The UEFA Champions League winner discussed topics as diverse as management styles, ownership models, financial fair play, broadcast media training, the changing world of football business, his favourite teammates and that night in Istanbul in what was a wonderful opportunity for students to network and learn from one of the game’s most respected veterans.

The talk was the first in a long line of weekly high-profile and high-impact executive guest speaker sessions that UCFB have lined up for this academic year and was the second time that Jamie Carragher has visited the Turf Moor campus in as many years. The series is part of the unrivalled Complementary CurriculumTM that is designed to enhance the students’ experience and employability prospects, resulting in the 93% employment rate that UCFB are proud to boast, with two in three graduates already working in sport.
