A UCFB student was fortunate enough to take a trip to Sheffield to cover the World Snooker Championships earlier this month.

Tomos Jones, a BA (Hons) Multimedia Sports Journalism student, got the chance to interview players and match officials taking part in the tournament.

He also gained experience on the day by attending a press conference at the world-famous snooker venue, and ‘getting an understanding of how the snooker world evolves in the media area.’

This was before he was given a tour of the Eurosport studio with Alan McManus, winner of the 1994 Masters.

Tomos said: “It’s been a great experience here in Sheffield at the Crucible for the World Snooker Championships.

“I’ve had an amazing experience interviewing various players, referees, match officials, those who are going to be officiating in the semi-finals.

“It’s been a fabulous, fabulous experience and I look forward to coming again next year.”
