Three UCFB Wembley students have been gaining great work experience as part of the media team at QPR Ladies.

Sam Smith, Tim Meakin and Nathan Kelsey, who all currently study BA (Hons) Football Business & Media, are responsible for working as a team to capture all the match action on camera. The trio divide their tasks on match day between operating the equipment, noting incidents during the game to help with later editing, and conducting post-match interviews with players and staff.

Once all filming is completed, a loose edit of the highlights is created and fellow student Ben Croft adds a voice over. From here, a number of clips, including the interviews and shorter films for social media, are sent to the QPR media team to publish to their thousands of fans through their various online channels.

The opportunity to film QPR Ladies arose through a unique partnership the media team at UCFB have set up with the club, which has also included students filming and interviewing QPR’s u23 side.

Commenting on the opportunity, Sam said: “In the future I’d love to be working in a role that involves similar skills and activities, and my preference at the moment would be to work as a media officer at a football club as I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my experience of filming and producing content for QPR Ladies.”

Tim added: “Working at QPR has enabled us to gain valuable experience and knowledge in a field we are all passionate about.”

Finally, Nathan said: “I want to use what I’ve learnt to continue in a content creation role at a club in the future.”
