Two UCFB students are heading to the world-famous home of FC Barcelona to gain vital work experience at a record breaking medical conference.

Albert Bassols and Benedikt Neumeier will act as press liaisons at The Future of Football Medicine conference this month, taking place at the Camp Nou, in what will be the largest football medicine and performance event ever held.

The conference is being run by Isokinetic Medical Group, a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence, and will be attended by some of the world’s top medical institutions, as well as over 100 football clubs and thousands of dignitaries from the world of medicine and sport, where they’ll network and learn best practice ideas.

Albert, a BA (Hons) Football Business & Marketing student and Barcelona fan, and Benedikt, who studies BA (Hons) Sports Business & Sports Broadcasting, landed the roles after seeing the jobs advertised by the UCFB Complementary Curriculum team.

On top of their work placement role, which will see them write press releases and coordinate with press in attendance, the pair will use the unique event to network and make key contacts themselves.

Benedikt said: “This is an opportunity that I will do my very best to get the most out of. Isokinetic, as well as others I’ll meet at the conference, are the relevant people in sport, and more specifically football, and I plan on using these contacts and the experience to work towards a career in the football industry.”

Albert, who earlier this year helped run the social media for another Isokinetic event, said: “This event will allow me to learn more about the football industry and at the same time do some key networking.”

He added: “The work experience I undertook with Isokinetic earlier this year helped me to develop my skills and to put into practice some of the theory I have been taught at UCFB.”
