One UCFB Wembley student has been busy this summer gaining vital work experience at a Premier League football club.

Joe Thompson, a BA (Hons) Football Business & Marketing student, spent three weeks in the potteries with Stoke City working across a number of the club’s departments, including marketing, media, commercial and sponsorship.

His time at the club comes on top of previous work experience opportunities he’s taken up during his time at UCFB so far, including the French Open at Roland Garros, further highlighting the importance of students getting out into the working world during their time at UCFB.

In his time at Stoke, Joe attended press conferences with manager Mark Hughes, worked with the marketing team to look at fan engagement via social media, and took a look at the club’s sponsorship plans.

Joe said: “I was also fortunate enough to be able to help on a match day when Manchester City came to the Bet 365 Stadium. This gave me access to see all the preparation behind the scenes on a match day, and gave me a great insight into all of the work that goes on before, during and after a big Premier League match.”
