UCFB's Global Institute of Sport (GIS) are delighted to partner with Queensland Rugby League to enhance opportunities for its network of administrators, volunteers and players.

Thanks to a partnership between the QRL and GIS, Queensland members eager to access cutting-edge learning experiences can now apply for a discount on tuition fees.

GIS is the leading destination for master’s degrees and professional education in sport, utilising a global network of industry leaders and elite stadium venues.

QRL chief executive officer Rohan Sawyer is excited about connecting people from within the game to an institution that is devoted solely to the sports industry.

“We believe this is a wonderful opportunity for people within our game to further their own development, whether they’re an administrator or player, or someone involved at community level who wants to break into a career in sport,” Sawyer said.

“We’re genuinely excited about what this partnership can do for people within the game; and we extend our thanks to the team at GIS for their willingness to support Queenslanders who want to grow and better themselves.”

Sawyer has already taken the lead to invest in his own personal development by committing to a master’s degree in 2023 as part of the partnership.

GIS students in Australia can learn online with access to some of the world’s leading sports destinations as part of their studies, including its UK campus locations in London and Manchester, which have Wembley and Etihad stadiums at their heart, home of the UK’s largest cohort of sports students.

Further first-class stadium surroundings include GIS global hubs at Inter Miami CF Stadium, Red Bull Arena in New York, Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Toronto FC’s BMO Field and Australia’s own Melbourne Cricket Ground, where annual GIS Sports Summits are hosted.

GIS Head of Business Development for Asia-Pacific, Ray Boggiano, is looking forward to building a strong and long-term relationship with the QRL and its members, who can now apply for a 15% discount on tuition fees for all master's degree programmess.

“Our typical student demographic is three-fold; we have the traditional path of those who have studied a sports degree that want to accelerate their career, we’ve got those that are working in a different industry that want to transfer into the sports industry, and then we’ve got those looking for a player career transition pathway,” Boggiano said.

Boggiano added that students have unprecedented access to the Australian sports industry with regular guest speaker sessions, networking opportunities, match day access and a Global Summit all taking place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground throughout the year.
