UCFB students will get the chance to network with the cream of the football and sport industry after landing work placement roles at an upcoming conference at Wembley Stadium.

In total, eight students will attend SMMEX – The Sports Merchandise & Marketing Exhibition – at the beginning of March to gain vital work experience and get a closer look at the inner workings of the industry, with some in attendance to film the event for the organisers.

SMMEX sees clubs, brands and retailers from around Europe attend to showcase leading trend products, new services and marketing skills.

Another student, second year Mackenzie Cadman, who studies BA (Hons) International Football Business, will be giving a talk to attendees alongside James McKeown and Danny Stroud, UCFB’s Head of Global Marketing and Complementary Curriculum & Employability Manager respectively, on rapid growth and success in the sport industry. James and Danny will also talk about how UCFB graduates are trained to excel in the football, sport and events industry.

Commenting ahead of the event, Danny said: “Events like this are perfect for our students to attend. It gives them the platform to both network within the industry and perhaps learn from different products and services in the sporting arena too. During the SMMEX event, both myself and James will be holding a seminar talk on the growth of UCFB’s brand globally and our approach to increasing student employability.”
