Between working with a local football club in Manchester and going to the United States to learn different coaching techniques, Jaimie is setting himself up nicely for a future career in training the next generation of players.

With a deep rooted passion for football and career ambitions of coaching at a professional club, the opportunity to learn more about the intricacies of coaching as well as get the practical experience required thanks to the world-class facilities on offer at UCFB Etihad Campus meant UCFB was an obvious destination for Jaimie to fulfil his higher education requirements.

A regular attendee of the Executive Guest Speakers sessions on offer at UCFB, Jaimie cites a talk with former Crystal Palace boss Dougie Freedman as a real benefit, being someone he was able to learn more from about the professional game and role of management in a high pressure environment.

The chance to go to America though and learn more about the coaching techniques at the Long Island Rough Riders has been Jaimie’s biggest highlight. The team, who play in the Premier Development League – the fourth tier of the American football pyramid – were able to show Jaimie the difference in their techniques, such as disguising the leaning of youth players and helping them develop the more technical side of the game while keeping the sessions fun and competitive.

“If you are thinking of coming to UCFB to pursue a career in the football and sport industry, I believe it’s a great opportunity for young people to come and get involved and get their foot in the door of these industries.”
