When it came to choosing where to go into higher education, Polish student Oliwia had three criteria: to work internationally, be involved in sport, and ultimately venture into a career that carries out a social purpose. UCFB and the BA (Hons) Sports Business & Sports Law programme were the perfect fit.

Since starting at UCFB Wembley in 2014, Oliwia has taken advantage of the many opportunities given to students at the institution, and has taken on board the advice to get as much work experience as possible to help aid her career ambitions.

Her biggest project was preparing the GB Team for the INAS championships in Ankara, where Oliwia managed the INAS list of the athletes eligible for the competitions. This placement Oliwia found particularly important because it enabled her to further understand the emerging problem of the lack of support for the athletes with learning disabilities.

Oliwia was also successful in winning the International Management Games in the Netherlands in 2016. Oliwia joined fellow UCFB students in a crowd of over 300 participants at the event, which saw the students from all over Europe mixed up and put into 40 different teams at the event.

“The good thing about any degree at UCFB is that is doesn’t narrow to one area of business. Even though the main focus of my course is the legal aspect of sport, I’ve also gained knowledge in the field of finance, marketing, accounting and management.

“What I enjoy the most is the relevancy to the recent events in sport. One day Sam Allardyce gets sacked, and the next we sit in our lecture room discussing the objectives of employment law in sport.”
