A passion for sport and education is setting up champion Irish dancer and UCFB student Saoirse for a stellar career teaching PE at secondary school level.

On top of her studies at UCFB Wembley, Saoirse is already showing the leadership skills required to front a classroom by teaching Irish dancing to youngsters at a number of London schools.

Her commitment to dance is clear to see. To maintain the fitness levels required for such an activity, she spends over 24 hours training each week. Her commitment and desire has made sure that she’s placed in top five positions at national championships in Britain and Ireland.

In her current teaching role, she leads the class teaching her students the steps involved in the dance and helps develop their understanding of movement.

Saoirse says her reason for coming to UCFB to study BA (Hons) Physical Education was the innovative setting of Wembley Stadium to further her education. She added the informative and engaging subjects, especially sessions about teaching abroad, have inspired her to graduate as a PE teacher and to want to understand further the psychology and motivation of children and how to support them to become high achievers in education and sport.

As well becoming a PE teacher, Saoirse hopes to achieve a top five finish at the Irish dance World Championships

“UCFB Wembley is a fantastic venue with great partnerships for sport and high quality lecturers. It is also intimate and this means you get to know everyone and develop strong friendships.”
