UCFB is embarking on its most ambitious project so far, as part of the partnership with the National League U19 Alliance, ahead of the league’s upcoming Finals Day!
A total of 30 students will be covering the National League Football Academy Final, and the National League U19 Alliance Final, which will both be played at St George’s Park on Wednesday, May 3.
The students will be reporting on the games via social media, streaming duties, writing match reports, and much more media coverage of both finals.
Of the students travelling from our Wembley Campus to Staffordshire, 24 of them are studying BA (Hons) Multimedia Sports Journalism, while six are studying BA (Hons) Sports Business and Sports Broadcasting.
The first of the matches is National League Football Academy Final, between Woking and York City, to be played at The Home of England at 1pm on the Wednesday afternoon.
Later that day, at 6pm, Hertford Town will face Rugby Borough in the National League U19 Alliance Final.
Both matches will be shown live on National League TV, and on the UCFB Wembley Broadcast Portal YouTube channel with full commentary.
There will be three cameras covering both finals, with interviews occurring both pre- and post-match.
UCFB lecturer Bob Ballard, who runs the National League report programme at Wembley, says he is excited and a little nervous at what the day has in store.
“This has taken a lot of planning and with the help of our technical team, Sam Smith and Jamie Rowland.
“We have been through pretty much every eventuality as to what could happen on the day from a logistical stand point.
“This is going to a special day for our First Year students who are going to experience producing updates, reports and interviews to a tight deadline which will really test their abilities.”
