UCFB are proud to announce that an incredible 93% of the inaugural 2014 cohort of UCFB graduates are in employment and two in three of those graduates are working within the sports industry.

UCFB has significantly exceeded the national average of alumni in employment, which currently stands at 74%. The graduates’ success in the sports industry domestically and around the world follows a unique three-year UCFB education where employability is at the front and centre of their experience.

Recent graduates Ben Friend, Events Support Coordinator for The Football Association and Jake Harrison, Sales Manager for Manchester City Football Club have already begun to pave their way to senior positions within the sports industry. UCFB graduates are not only attractive to businesses in the UK, but globally too. Esteemed members of the inaugural UCFB ‘Class of 2014’, Tim Newton, Harry Tomlinson, Jonathon Morville and Josh Ambler have successfully been appointed by MSSL, a leading youth football organisation in the United States.

In order to place graduates in the best possible position for a career in sport, UCFB focuses on a unique Complementary CurriculumTM, which prepares students for the dynamic sports industry and ensures that they stand out to all potential employers. UCFB offers unrivalled opportunities to undertake student placements and work experience with leading sports organisations throughout each degree programme. Students have recently enjoyed work placements with a number of renowned sports industry leaders including Isokinetic Medical Group, the BBC Broadcasting team, the New York Tennis Open, TalkSport and many more.

UCFB Chief Executive, Philip Wilson, discusses the three key ingredients for a successful career:

“The three key ingredients for a successful career are namely a degree, good references from a network of business contacts and a proven track record of work experience. At UCFB these are met and delivered by our Complementary CurriculumTM through a unique lecture series, workshops, work placement opportunities and executive speakers as part of our inimitable approach to Higher Education.”

Assistant Head of the Academic Department, Rebecca Padgett is committed to enhancing students’ employability skills:

“Placements and work experience are a vital way to advance student employability and begin a successful career within their chosen industry. If you apply yourself, you will graduate from UCFB not only with a high standard of education, but also a remarkable CV with a variety of experiences in the sports industry.”

As UCFB opens its doors to postgraduate study this September, the institution’s unique programmes and opportunities will continue to ensure that students can live, learn and work within the machinery of the industry.
