Last week, UCFB academics Dr Patricia Mahon-Daly and Dr Nick Wilde were selected to present their work on ‘netiquette’, the term used to describe the appropriate and acceptable ways to behave online. Delivered as part of the prestigious Advance Higher Education Conference taking place at Northumbria University, the presentation proved a huge academic success for UCFB, setting out our academics as industry leaders.

The three-day conference, which attracted practitioners from the UK and overseas, saw the lecturers discuss their creation of a netiquette protocol for students and staff, as part of the live online teaching delivering. This was designed to ensure all students and staff felt safe and supported throughout the pandemic, and was included within the ‘excellence in practice’ section of the conference.

Commenting on the conference, Dr Mahon-Daly said: ”It was great to meet so many academics in person and present our Netiquette for successful live online in the Excellence in teaching and learning stream. We got great feedback from the day, and it was a joy to be able to promote the ever-growing network of UCFB.”

Dr Mahon-Daly has 25 years’ experience of teaching in Higher Education and Academia, primarily focusing on social sciences in relation to sport. She was awarded Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education for advanced expertise in pedagogy, and in her ‘spare’ time is a fully qualified and active personal trainer.

Likewise, Dr Wilde is recognised as an expert in football marketing, having worked closely with the marketing departments of Boca Juniors, Estudiantes de la Plata and Racing in Argentina. He also helped set up the Charlton Athletic United States Soccer Academy and has worked on several projects with the leading sports charity Charlton Athletic Community Trust.
