UCFB and Burnley FC in the Community are pleased to announce an innovative new partnership which will see the creation of a new community education offer at UCFB Burnley.

From September 2016, working collaboratively with both UCFB Burnley and Nelson and Colne College, Burnley FC’s official charity will be offering further education provision at the existing UCFB Burnley facility at Turf Moor.

The partnership will offer BTEC provision for up to 100 students, as well as additional options across the spectrum of further education, including apprenticeships, adult learning courses and employability workshops. Burnley FC’s Shadow Youth Team – a two-year programme that combines academic studies with practical footballing experience – will also be in-part based at the facility.

As a trio of local organisations working closely together, the aim is to maximise the use of Turf Moor and its unique position in the town as a place of aspiration and ambition. With six 30 seater classrooms overlooking the pitch, as well as a 150-seater auditorium and a library, the fantastic facilities available at the education hub will look to offer a multitude of inspirational new opportunities to the communities in and around Burnley. Burnley FC in the Community will also be working closely with the Premier League communities team on a range of new education projects to support educational attainment in the town.

Philip Wilson, Chief Executive of UCFB said: “The opportunity to be in partnership with a leading football club community organisation at Burnley FC and Nelson and Colne College with their outstanding educational standards, will empower the young people of Burnley and enable them to make their own life decisions and provide them with an unlimited lifetime opportunity. The delivery of the qualifications for 16-19 year olds provides the opportunity for local young people to learn within the inspirational UCFB Burnley teaching facilities, and potentially to progress to a UCFB degree programme at UCFB Etihad Campus.”

Neil Hart, Chief Executive Officer of Burnley FC in the Community said: “We are absolutely delighted to be taking a leading role in delivering a brand new, wide range of education opportunities to the people of our region. I’d like to extend my thanks to both UCFB Burnley and Nelson and Colne College for the great progress we have made to date in establishing this partnership and I look forward to continuing to work with both organisations on this exciting venture. The learning environment within the UCFB Burnley facilities is truly inspirational. With pitch side views and high quality delivery, we are committed to raising aspirations and delivering change.”

The facility will be open from September 2016. Recruitment for the Shadow Youth Team and BTEC programmes for 2016/2017 is now in progress, with our next Burnley FC Shadow Youth Team trial taking place on Tuesday 5th July (10am – 12pm).
