Wembley Stadium is the latest centre to offer the NCTJ Diploma in Journalism after accreditation was awarded to UCFB, the world’s first higher education institution catering for the football, sport and events industries with its campus inside the stadium.

The iconic location will launch the 20-week fast-track course in September 2016.

UCFB has recruited NCTJ board director and trustee Roz McKenzie to lead the course, who has been delivering journalism programmes at Lambeth College since 2005.

UCFB, which also has campuses inside Manchester’s Etihad Stadium and Burnley Football Club’s Turf Moor stadium, will be the only private fast-track course offering Broadcast Journalism as an option. Other options include Sports Journalism and Production Journalism, alongside the NCTJ’s core modules including Shorthand.

Taught in and around the inspirational surroundings of Wembley Stadium, the course will have a strong focus on digital and social media with all students expected to master using their mobile phones to film and edit news reports.

Ms McKenzie said: “This is an exciting opportunity for students to learn the skills needed to become a modern, world class reporter in surroundings that promote excellence. I am delighted to be taking up this opportunity to train reporters with the passion and drive to succeed in the greatest job in the world.”

Neil Silver, UCFB’s Head of Media and Journalism, said: “This is an exciting addition to our portfolio of programmes, and we are delighted to have recruited someone as respected within the training industry as Roz.”
