UCFB Wembley first year student Harry Sherman is on his way to achieving his dream of becoming a professional football coach by bagging a coaching role at local grassroots club, Kinja FC.
Established in 2011, Kinja FC is a local grassroots team that has both boys’ and girls’ teams in age groups from Under 8s up to Under 18s, and have recently become a Platinum Club Associate of Arsenal Ladies, the most successful club in English women’s football history. Kinja FC were recently privileged to be announced as Arsenal Ladies’ “Club of the Month” for January 2016 following renowned successes in recruiting players and coaches to expand the club.
On his start to life at Kinja FC, where he has taken over the Under 12 girls’ team, and started off brilliantly in their first game by winning 6-3, Harry commented:
“I’ve loved coaching at Kinja FC. All the other coaches are really friendly and have a wide range of experiences, and all the players are all keen to learn and keen to play football. It really is a joy to coach them.”
As well as gaining experience as a coach, Harry is also building career-enhancing contacts by being able to attend Arsenal Ladies sessions, as well as having their coaches coming down to train the Kinja FC teams. On top of this, Kinja recently had former Wycombe Wanderers manager, and FA tutor Jim Kelman visit for a coaching session.
Harry’s Under 12 girls currently play in the Capital Girls League, where they play 7-a-side games against other London clubs, and train on a Tuesday, Thursday and have matches on Saturdays.
