UCFB Wembley second year student Julian Sanchez has won a prestigious award at the Extra Awards UK, an award ceremony celebrating the Latino business community in London.

The International Football Business student was nominated in the UK Sports Leader Community category, which recognises the contribution made to the Latino community in London via the medium of sport. Julian was nominated alongside other coaches and sport events organisers. To his delight, Julian went on to win and collected his award at a ceremony in London.

Reflecting on this proud moment, Julian commented:

“I felt honoured with the recognition. It was very emotional because one of my players had an accident and this award was dedicated to him and my little daughter.

“Since I arrived in the UK I’ve been always involved in sport, particularly football. I have organised two editions of the Respect Cup which includes help from the Metropolitan Police who provide the referees. I am using football as an educational tool and the community count on me as their leader. Even more now that I am at UCFB, my passion is my profession.

“Football is my love, but I have learned that it is not an easy industry. I use this obstacle as a motivational challenge and for me the key to get ahead is to work in the most professional manner and take advantage of the opportunities that UCFB offer in terms of knowledge, experience and networking.”

Whilst completing his education at UCFB, Julian continues his work in the community and hopes to receive further recognition for his work in the future.
