UCFB launched its exciting Study Tour series recently as ambitious Sport Management students from South Korea descended on Wembley Stadium for a week of exclusive insight from industry leaders.

Funded by the Korean government for visual merchandising and retail projects, Hanyang University undergraduate and postgraduate students were able to experience life at UCFB Wembley and immerse themselves in the culture of European sport.

The one week intensive sport business study programme, designed by UCFB, included a unique academic programme, a masterclass in Store Design and Visual Merchandising, several executive guest speaker sessions with industry experts, excursions to football clubs and stores in London, and a tailored cultural programme.

Guest speakers, including international football marketing and merchandising professionals, and executives from The Football Association, provided an insight into the nuances of working within retail and merchandising in the UK and global football and wider sport industries. With football by far the most popular sport at national level in South Korea, the Study Tour provided an interesting context to their academic studies.

Each of the students received the UCFB Certificate in Sport Business: Retail Operations and Visual Merchandising upon completion of the week-long programme.

Hanyang University student and UCFB Study Tour attendee, Semi Mun commented:

“We gained an insight into high level retail and merchandising, and tourism in the United Kingdom. It was great to hear the real experience of Wembley Stadium staff. London is a beautiful city with many attractions. It was an unforgettable experience to be able to study here.”

International Football Business student at UCFB, Mackenzie Cadman, supported the UCFB Study Tour and reflected:

“With studying International Football Business at UCFB, I have a keen interest in different cultures. Getting to know how football and sport differs between South Korea and England was a great insight. It was great to get to know the Korean students and extend my list of contacts around the globe. As a result of this Study Tour, I am now hopefully going over to South Korea in the summer to learn about how the K-League intends to further grow its popularity.”

UCFB International Recruitment Manager, Claire Rowlinson added:

The week has been incredibly successful and I hope the Korean students have been able to gain a really useful insight into the sports industry in the United Kingdom. We hope that this visit will signal the beginning of a strong academic partnership between UCFB and Hanyang University.
