GIS and UCFB has always been proud of its many links to the global sports industry, with its networking growing on a weekly basis.

This is often one of the key points students make when they join and are asked why they chose UCFB and GIS – and Grace is no different.

The MSc Sport Management student said: “What stood out for me at the Open Day was the amount of links UCFB has to the sports industry. The careers team spoke about that a lot and how they can help you get your foot in the door of the industry.”

Currently part of the media team at National League South side Chelmsford City, Grace highlights the helpfulness of her lecturers as a real pleasing part of her GIS experience, not to mention a visit to St. George’s Park and a tour of the England national team’s HQ.

A meeting with the BBC’s Mark Clemmit also places high on her highlights list, learning first-hand how the regular GIS host made his way into the sports broadcasting industry.

Grace’s advice to prospective students is: “Always be proactive. There are so many opportunities from work experience to guest speaker talks. Make use of them, go to the extra workshops and seminars and apply for the internships. All of the opportunities are there but nobody is going to force you to do them.”
