Course overview

This two day programme will explore the essential management consulting skills and tools required to become better problem solver. Using a combination of theory and group exercises the team will teach a number of structured analytic techniques that can be used in a variety of circumstances. Over the course of two days the program will examine:

  • How to effectively define and structure complex problems
  • How to create and sell innovative solutions to stakeholders

After completion of this programme participants will learn the tools and techniques required to develop, assess, and present strategic recommendations to their target audience.

The course will be taught via presentations, case studies and client interactions.

Course outcomes

Upon completion of this two day programme participants will be equipped with the analytical tools and problem solving skills necessary to tackle complex problems and provide effective solutions to their teams and stakeholders.

Day 1 of the programme focuses on teaching participants how to effectively understand difficult problems using frameworks, essential tools, and case studies. Topics covered include:

  • Define problems using a variety of frameworks
  • Structure problems using hypothesis pyramids and issue trees
  • Understanding problems from the client’s perspective

Day 2 of the programme focuses on teaching participants how to create and sell innovative solutions using frameworks, essential tools, and techniques. Topics covered include:

  • Ideation and the generation of innovative solutions
  • Experimentation and the prioritization of possible solutions

Implementation and the selling of the final solution. Note: During the two day programme participants will interact with an external ‘client’. This client exercise is designed to allow participants to apply the lessons from the day in a real world scenario.
