Course overview

The course will enable participants to further develop their understanding of football finance, through review of different revenue streams, analysis of financial health, Financial Fair Play compliance and investment decisions. A look at financial trends across the Big 5 European leagues as well as the English Championship (revenues, wages, and profitability) will support the development of forecasting predictions for 5-10 years’ time. In addition, the regulatory landscape review will prepare participants to better understand Financial Fair Play/Profitability and Sustainability rules- their intended objectives, how they affect clubs’ financial strategies, and recent case studies

Delivered through an interactive workshop with opportunities to forecast future revenue levels, participants will analyse existing matchday-broadcast-commercial situations at identified top clubs, to enable forecast of where things will be in 5-10 years’ time. Delegates will participate in a live discussion/debate on a hot topic e.g. the concept of European Super League; has financial fair play been a success; are Championship clubs right to threaten a breakaway league of their own etc.
