About

The Football Association

UCFB has enjoyed a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with the Football Association and Wembley Stadium connected by EE – operated by Wembley National Stadium Limited (WNSL) – since first agreeing to join forces in February 2013 and in doing so creating the UCFB Wembley campus.

The long-term partnership with WNSL saw the institution take over 60,000 square feet of existing space on the first four floors of the stadium’s south west quadrant, including four lecture theatres, 16 seminar rooms, social learning space, a large 350-seated refectory area, library and media suite. UCFB also hosts its own entrance to the stadium.

Upon first announcing the partnership, UCFB Chairman & Chief Executive Brendan Flood, spoke highly of Wembley Stadium and the natural expansion from UCFB’s roots in Burnley to the home of football.

Football and sport is a global industry which impacts on the lives of millions. UCFB is about ensuring we are equipping the future leaders of the game with the right skills to manage it in the best interests of everyone.

Brendan Flood

Chief Executive Officer of UCFB

Since launching UCFB Wembley in 2013, UCFB has worked closely with the FA as a proud partner. With multiple UCFB graduates transitioning into full-time employees in various positions at the FA, including events management and coaching.

In 2024, UCFB and the FA collaborated in launching the Certificate of Higher Education in Football Development, developed to support career opportunities for those looking to enter the football industry. The course provides a unique opportunity to develop a critical understanding and application of the various constituent components of football development at both grassroots and elite levels, catering to a variety of industry contexts.

UCFB and the FA are confident that this collaborative effort will significantly contribute to the education and professional development of individuals seeking to make a meaningful impact in the football industry.

I think if you’re passionate about what you do, the whole point of UCFB is there’s somewhere for you to go and study, learn and thrive in an environment that you care about. If you’re working in that it will come naturally to you.
