Application for Accommodation

  • UCFB aims to provide accommodation for all new students who apply and register before Clearing opens. Where possible a small number of rooms will be held back for the clearing
    process.
  • UCFB secures rooms at both campuses with a contracted accommodation provider (Unite Students) and reserves these exclusively for UCFB students.
  • UCFB ensures rooms are available for both new and returning students.
  • UCFB cannot guarantee accommodation, or the type of accommodation requested by individuals as this is subject to demand.
  • UCFB does not control the allocation of rooms. Whilst efforts will be made with Unite Students to house students according to their preferences (by year group, gender or with specific
    individuals) this cannot be guaranteed.
  • Whilst UCFB cannot guarantee accommodation or the type of accommodation requested by individuals, we may be able to offer advice and guidance around other suitable options.

Tenancy Agreement

  • A tenancy agreement is the mechanism for a student securing a room with a UCFB contracted accommodation provider.
  • The tenancy agreement is between Unite Students and the student directly – UCFB is not a party to this agreement and cannot unilaterally remove a student from their contract.
  • If a student makes the decision to withdraw from their studies at UCFB, defer or leave their accommodation then then the student is liable for the costs of that accommodation until a replacement student has been found and has checked-in to the property as per the terms and conditions of the tenancy agreement.
  • UCFB recommends that students thoroughly review the terms of their tenancy agreement with the accommodation provider and all associated policies and procedures.
  • Students are expected to adhere to accommodation providers’ contracts/tenancy agreements and may be subject to their disciplinary processes and these are separate to those of UCFB.
