You will be responsible for covering your tuition fees, which can be financed through a student loan. In addition to tuition, you’ll also need to budget for accommodation and daily living expenses. These costs may include rent, utilities, groceries, transportation, and other personal expenses, all of which are important to consider when planning your financial needs as a student living independently.

You can begin your application for a student loan through Student Finance England by visiting their website at www.gov.uk/student-finance. There’s no need to wait until you’ve received an offer from us to apply for financial assistance. By starting your application early, you can get ahead of the process and ensure that your funding is in place well before your course begins.
To find UCFB courses on the Student Finance Portal, follow the instructions below:
Select University of East London (University of East London award UCFB degrees).
Search for the full course title – choose the correct course and campus you wish to study at.
International students are not eligible to apply for a loan through Student Finance England.
We encourage you to apply as soon as possible to ensure your finances are in place for the new academic year.
You will need your Student Finance confirmation notification letter to fully enrol or your enrolment could be delayed.
The later you apply for your finance, the more likely it is that you may not get all the funding you are entitled to when your first term starts.
The quickest and easiest way for you to apply is through your online account at the various Student Finance regions SFE (England), SFW (wales), SFNI (Northern Ireland) and SAAS (Scotland) online application pages.
Different rules apply to students from Gibraltar, Isle of Man and The Channel Islands. Contact your respective education departments in those areas.
If you are not yet sure of the course you will be doing, you should still apply for finance using the details of the course you are most likely to attend, and if this changes, you can come back and update your finance application.
You will need your National Insurance number and in-date UK passport details, as well as your bank account details.
Full-time students have to pay back any loans plus interest once you complete your course and start earning more than £25,000 a year. You don’t have to repay any grant or bursaries.
For more information, visit www.gov.uk/repaying-your-student-loan/what-you-pay.
Eligible UK students can apply for a Maintenance Loan which can support the cost of your accommodation, rent and other living costs during your studies with us. This is provided by Student Finance England.
For more information, visit www.gov.uk/student-finance/new-fulltime-students.
As a general guide, the maximum maintenance loans are:
Living and studying in London away from parental home: £13,022
Living and studying in London at parental home: £8,400
Living and studying outside London: £9,978
The minimum maintenance loan available is: £3,516
These calculations are based on a parental income of £25,000 per annum or less. Once the parental household income goes above £25,000 the maintenance loan entitlement reduces.

Students are classified as either having a “Home / UK” or an “International” fee status and the tuition fee you will be charged will depend on:
The Admissions Team at UCFB will make an assessment of your status in line with UK regulations and guidance issued by the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA). You can find the regulations and guidance here.
If we require further information from you to determine your fee status, we will send you a UEL Fee Assessment Form for you to complete and return to us. We may ask for supporting evidence:
Please be aware that applicants who hold Pre-Settled or Settled status will qualify for home fees but you will be required to submit evidence of your status.
Please note that if you are assessed as an International student for fee purposes, you will need to evidence a valid visa to study in the UK.
If you have any questions or queries about your fee status please contact admissions@ucfb.com.
