A UCFB student has been looking back on his time on one of UCFB’s scholarships, which allowed him to gain industry experience at a Football League club.
Jamie Dyson, who studies MSc Performance Analysis in Football at our Manchester Campus, was successful in receiving the Barrow AFC Scholarship.
The scholarship meant that Jamie was welcomed to League Two side Barrow AFC as a performance analyst for the 2023-24 season.
Jamie called it “a truly unforgettable experience, being able to work at the club during such a historic and record-breaking 2023-24 season.”
He added: “From visiting new football stadiums, working with top-class professional football players every day and being a part of an incredible team I feel overwhelmingly grateful for the opportunity.
“Through the ups and downs of the season, I have met some exceptional individuals that have helped me grow as a person both personally and professionally and I look forward to bringing these lessons forwards with me into my next chapter.
“I wish everyone involved with the club the best of luck for the future and I look forward to seeing the club continue to push onto new heights!”
Speaking about the scholarship, Jamie added: “Some of the benefits of the scholarship are UCFB have contributed to my tuition fees and petrol money, with all the driving you have to do.
“Working alongside an analyst with the experience Lewis has; All his advice has been really helpful.
“And of course, there’s the networking. Not just the analysts, but all other staff and the people you meet on matchdays.”
He finished: “I would definitely recommend applying for a scholarship. Everyone can apply. I definitely think everyone should be applying for at least one.”
