A recent UCFB graduate is celebrating having secured a position working in the media department at Premier League side Burnley FC.
Rohit Bains, who has just graduated from UCFB with a degree in BA (Hons) Multimedia Sports Journalism, will be creating content and assisting the Clarets with the social media and digital output.
Rohit said: “I’m ecstatic that my journey has taken me to a Premier League side, it’s such a great opportunity to learn the ropes from the top professionals in the industry.
“Additionally, I’m very excited to get involved and produce my own work at such a high and globally well-respected level.”
When asked about his work experience while at UCFB and his journey since, he added: “Three years ago, I was at Eccleshill United in the Northern Counties East Premier Division - step 5 of non-league. I then worked in the National League for FC Halifax Town, so this is my first club role inside the 92.
“It’s a big learning process, which I’m really looking forward to. I’ll be looking gain every opportunity possible!”
“I enjoyed my time at UCFB, it’s such a niche and unique university,” Rohit said. “The friendships I’ve made will last a lifetime, and I feel like all the fellow students at UCFB are genuinely nice people too.
“I’d say the skills gained were important to help me get to where I am now, most notably the help of lecturer Colm Griffith, who was excellent at giving career advice and had some brilliant anecdotes from his own journey. Having a role model like Colm has really helped since I finished the course.”
Rohit finished: “Take the plunge and start. Whether that’s volunteering at a sports club, writing articles on your own website, or creating a YouTube channel and posting videos.
“The quicker you start then the faster it is to gain experience and create contacts that will be beneficiary the later in your career!”
