As the 2022-23 academic year comes to an end, so does the 2022-23 sporting season, which has been a very successful one for the UCFB sports teams.
No fewer than five of our teams have won their respective leagues, over sports including football, rugby, netball and basketball.
In football, our Etihad Women’s Second Team were crowned Tier Three league champions after a dramatic last-minute free kick.
Meanwhile, our Wembley Men’s Third Team were named champions of Tier Five.
Our Men’s Basketball Academy won their league with 21 points from seven matches, while our Women’s Netball Team also gained maximum points to be crowned Tier 10 champions.
Our Men’s First Rugby Team played an incredible season, securing 49 points to win Tier Five.
In addition, our Wembley Women’s First Team came second in their league after a hard-fought season, challenging Hertfordshire Women’s First Team for the title.
Also, our Etihad Men’s First Team narrowly missed out on winning the league, losing out to Manchester Metropolitan First Team.
It was a very tight season which saw our Etihad Men’s Fourth Team finish level on points with UA92 Firsts, but losing the title on goal difference.
The UCFB Wembley Academy, along with Etihad Seconds and Thirds, came third in their respective leagues.
2022-23 was also successful year for our other sports, such as the UCFB darts and golf societies, and also saw incredible events such as our inaugural Varsity taking place at Silver Jubilee Park.
A massive well done to all the UCFB teams and individuals who fought so hard alongside their studies throughout this academic year.
