To celebrate a decade of inspiring the next generation of sports business professionals, the University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) is launching the UCFB Sports Entrepreneur Competition, a flagship initiative giving aspiring sports innovators aged 18–30 the chance to win a prize up to the value of £50,000 to bring their big idea to life.
The regional competition, open to budding entrepreneurs in the UK, invites entrants to submit innovative sports business concepts with the potential to make a real impact in the industry. From fan engagement platforms to grassroots development projects, the competition will uncover and support the most exciting talent in sports enterprise.
The final event will take place in October at the iconic Old Trafford Football Stadium, the heart of football in the city, where shortlisted finalists will pitch to a high-profile judging panel made up of leading Manchester entrepreneurs, business leaders, and sporting personalities. The winning concept will receive a prize up to the value of £50,000 alongside mentoring and business development support to help turn their vision into reality.
‘This competition reflects everything UCFB stands for; ambition, innovation, and the belief that the sports industry is powered by creative ideas,’ said Brendan Flood, Chief Executive at UCFB. ‘As we mark 10 years in Manchester, we want to celebrate not just our own journey, but the journeys of the young entrepreneurs who will shape the future of sport.’
As part of its outreach, UCFB will also host roadshows at regional colleges and sixth forms, and work with youth organisations to engage with talented young people from all backgrounds.
The competition not only celebrates UCFB’s Manchester legacy but also strengthens its mission to be the go-to university for sports business careers, inspiring and empowering future leaders in the sector.
