Prof Dr Selim has a wide experience of lecturing in law. Prior to Sports Law, he has lectured on International Trade Law, Maritime Law, Marine Insurance Law, Indemnities for the Injury and Death, Marine Casualties, Carriage of Goods by Air, Sea, Road and Rail, Human Rights at Sea. He has delivered lectures in civil law topics at BA, LLM and PhD level in China, Turkey, and Cyprus. He delivered seminars the UK, Germany, and Italy. He was previously the dean of a university law school in Cyprus.
Selim has significant experience working as an international arbitrator in the UK, Turkey, and China. He is a member of Istanbul Bar Association as an Advocate. He has represented Turkey at the UN (UNCTAD) in NY, Wien, and ILO in Geneva. He also worked as a legal consultant in Southampton, Istanbul, and Genoa. Selim worked as external examiner at the University of Southampton. He also represented ITF in Istanbul while consulting Turkish Seafarers Union.
He has received awards from ELSA Malta, the Max Planck Institute in Hamburg, the Turkish High Education Commissioner in Ankara, and the British Consulate in Istanbul. He has published in different UK and international journals and presented at various international conferences.
Selim has a long-standing interest in water sports. He is a skipper and competed in single handed categories in sailing for Fenerbahce SC. He competed in regattas and instructed on windsurfing. He also worked as a basketball coach for the University of Marmara, Faculty of Law.
