Joanna Davison

After qualifying as a teacher in 2009, I worked as a Secondary PE teacher for 5 years at different establishments before taking the plunge and moving into University Outreach and recruitment. Initially focusing on teacher training (mirroring my own HE journey!) and then later moving into specialised Sport focused recruitment at UCFB – again following my own passion for working within the Sports industry. I have always tried to work for an institution I would attend myself hence UCFB being a great place for me to work – with my Sport and Education background.

I love playing netball and also boxing and football – more the spectating than the performing for these two! Hmmmmmm, favourite sporting moment is a hard one – I love any underdog story – especially in boxing as it is often portrayed as one huge favourite and one unlikely challenger. Maybe the Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder fight when Fury was knocked down multiple times (and looked almost knocked out) then came back to win the fight. Amazing to watch!

I love the huge range of skills, people, personalities and opportunities the sports industry brings – no two days are the same and all interests are catered for! From elite performance options, education, business and infrastructure support, multi-million pound financial industry support and so much more, there literally is something for everyone.

The emotion and passion people feel is so amazing to be part of – it may be a passion for their local football team, getting up at 5am to train for their own performance improvement or simply achieving something they thought they never would; Passion runs hand in hand with sport. Not just the winning but the personal goals people achieve while doing what they love!

I am based at our Manchester (MCR) Campus when on site, but I work with education organisations in the North of England.
