Richard Flash is an elite lecturer in football and sport business and the sociology of sport fan in society. A former Manchester United footballer, he holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Edge Hill University) and a first class Master’s degree in Business Administration. He has over 30 years of sports industry experience via playing professional sport, managing sport businesses and higher education leadership and teaching. His research interests are focused on English based footballers of African and Caribbean descent.
Between 2011 to 2016 Richard was an integral figure in the growth and development of UCFB. He led the opening of the Wembley campus in 2014 as the organisation’s first academic department head. He designed, validated and taught on football business degree programmes and created partnerships with a number of UCFB’s guest speakers and work placement providers. Richard’s indomitable character and unique skill set as an industry business manager and experienced academic, enables him to effectively communicate and network with undergraduates, post-graduates and elite industry professionals. His professional career began as a footballer for Manchester United alongside the likes of David Beckham, Gary Neville & Paul Scholes.
