Students and alumni, will be able to attend the Global Sports Summit in Canada, primarily based at BMO Field in Toronto. The summit is based around seven days of specially tailored talks, workshops, exclusive networking opportunities and visits specific to the Canadian sports industry.

 

Crowned MLS champions in 2017, Toronto FC are based at Canada’s national football stadium, BMO Field, and are owned by Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE).

 

UCFB and GIS students will be able to learn from MLSE’s unique business that runs successful venue and multi-sport franchise operations and is a world leading organisation in sports technology. Our Canadian summit will also access MLSE’s stunning Scotiabank Arena, home of the NBA’s Toronto Raptors and the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs.

What to Expect

Live sport experiences are at the heart of our Global Sports Summits. As an indicator of what to expect, previous Toronto Global Sports Summit included:

Our Global Sports Summits will typically feature guests from:

  • Elite sports teams and franchises;
  • Stadium and venue staff;
  • Sports club owners and management groups;
  • Major sponsors of sports teams;
  • Sports agencies;
  • Sports media and broadcasters;
  • Former and current players, managers and coaches

Getting behind the scenes of key sporting organisations will form a key part of the Summit. This will include tours of stadiums and training facilities and meeting key staff.

Our Toronto Global Sports Summit typically includes a day-trip to Niagara Falls, with a ‘Voyage to the Falls’ boat trip included.

Networking with key players in the sports industry will form a central part of the Toronto Sports Summit. There will be opportunities to meet with senior leaders and decision makers from major sports organisations, providing an excellent chance for attendees to build connections and build their personal brand whilst learning about the local sports market.

Travel and Accommodation

 

Accommodation for the Toronto Global Sports Summit is booked by UCFB and GIS, and students are required to pay the full amount to confirm their place at the Summit. Places are booked on first come first served basis. Travel is to be booked independently by students.

Students and alumni can purchase their ticket through our approved ticketing provider, details of this will be communicated ahead of the booking window opening.

Accommodation for this opportunity will solely be booked by UCFB and GIS, and to book your place at the summit, you must book accommodation through UCFB and GIS. All attendees will be staying at the same accommodation for the duration of the Summit.

 

Details of the accommodation will be released upon booking for the Summit going live.

Attendees are to book their own travel to and from the Toronto Global Sports Summit. This allows students and alumni maximum flexibility with their travel plans. UCFB and GIS will hold no responsibility over the travel plans of any of the Summit attendees.

 

After booking your accommodation through UCFB and GIS and booking your travel plans, UCFB and GIS will request the details of your flights. Spaces at the Summit are not guaranteed and so it is imperative that students and alumni do not book their travel plans until their place at the Summit has been confirmed by a member of the International Events Team in writing.

Toronto Pearson Airport is a 30 minute drive from downtown Toronto, or approximately 50 minutes by public transport. It is well served by many international airports. UCFB and GIS can provide travel advice to confirmed Summit attendees.
