UCFB graduate selected for BBC show seeking Britain’s next top football pundit

A UCFB graduate has been talking to us about her participation in a recent BBC sports media show, Last Pundit Standing.

Rukiah Ally, who finished her degree in BA (Hons) Sports Business and Sports Law in 2025, was one of the football content creators selected for the programme.

The show sees 12 passionate football fans who create content about the game go head-to-head for a role as a BBC sport contributor.

Rukiah called the opportunity, “an incredible experience and genuinely something I never could’ve imagined.

“I travelled to the most insane venues, experienced what it takes to be a BBC sport pundit, and most importantly met amazing people along the way.”

She added: “I think one of the key things I’ll take away from this experience are the practical skills I learnt throughout the process, from presenting in the Match of the Day studios to interviewing one of the Premier League’s most iconic managers.

“I hope to carry these skills going forward whilst progressing in the industry, continuing to partner with big name brands.”

All episodes of the show are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

Rukiah then looked back on her time studying at UCFB for the past three years, speaking about what stood out to her.

“Definitely the huge focus on employability,” she said, “from regularly having guest speakers and networking events to opportunities for internships and meeting industry professionals. Not to mention studying at the iconic Wembley Stadium, it’s such a unique learning experience that no other university has!

“I really enjoyed my time at UCFB, especially being around like-minded people who are all passionate about sport. I’ve made great friends, learned from industry professionals and memories to last a lifetime. I wouldn’t change it for the world!”

She finished: “My advice to anyone wanting a career in sports is to be proactive! Create your own opportunities and put yourself out there whether that’s volunteering, networking or even content creation. The more experience you gain, the easier it is!”

UCFB offers a wide range of sports industry-focused undergraduate degree courses, from focusing on sports media to sports coaching and sports business. Find out more and see where it could take you on your future career in sport.
