GIS Master's Scholarships Programme has been designed to encourage students from all backgrounds and abilities to embrace their time at GIS and graduate with more than just their university degree. These initiatives not only offer students the chance to earn money off their tuition fees, but also gain skills and contacts that will enhance their CV, employment prospects and enhance their overall GIS experience.

Jason Roberts Foundation Scholarship

Offered in partnership with the Jason Roberts Foundation, the scholarship programme is open to an outstanding applicant holding an offer for any of GIS Master’s programmes held at our Wembley campus. Candidates should have an interest in football, have the ability to lead, possess experience with outreach work within a community and should be able to demonstrate that they have strived through adversity to achieve a goal.

The recruitment process will address the diversity criteria, ensuring that a range of candidates from socially diverse backgrounds, as well as from groups with other protected characteristics, apply for the programme.

The scholarship students will benefit from a partnership between UCFB/GIS and Jason Roberts Foundation. Recipients of the scholarship will be expected to not only commit themselves to an academically rigorous programme of study but also become involved in some of the activities and programmes carried out by the Jason Roberts Foundation.

Scholarship Value: FT: £1,500 (£1,000 tuition fees + £500 towards sports industry events and costs associated with involvement in projects with Jason Roberts Foundation.

PT: £1,500 (the tuition fee value of the scholarship will be divided into two years of study).

Women in the Game Scholarship

This scholarship is currently closed (deadline being on 1st August 2022) and all scholarship applications are being reviewed for awards for 2022/2023 academic cycle.

The Women in the Game Scholarship is a part of our #GetOnside pledge to Women in Football (WiF).

It is open to outstanding female applicants holding an offer for an MSc programme with GIS (including online and blended). Candidates should have an interest in football and the wider sport industry, the ability to set clear goals and have the drive to achieve them. The selection process will address the diversity criteria, ensuring that a range of candidates from ethnic, socially diverse backgrounds, as well as from groups with other protected characteristics, apply for the programme.

The scholarship students will benefit from a partnership between UCFB/GIS and Women in Football. Recipients of the scholarship will receive a 15% tuition fee reduction for any of GIS’s postgraduate programmes. They will also be expected to not only commit themselves to an academically rigorous programme of study but also become involved in a work placement with a partnering football league club in the UK.

Additionally, a number of top-ranked applicants may benefit from the professional expertise offered by Women in Football and their partners through the leadership course training.

Scholarship Value: FT: 15% tuition fee reduction for any of GIS’s postgraduate programmes with top ranked applicants accessing WiF Leadership Course.

PT: 15% tuition fee reduction for any of GIS’s postgraduate programmes (the tuition fee value of the scholarship will be divided into two years of study) with top ranked applicants accessing WiF Leadership Course.

Tongue Tied Management Scholarship

UCFB are delighted to announce a scholarship in partnership with Tongue Tied Management, a sports management agency working with some of the best sporting and broadcasting talent in the UK, guiding and developing their careers, both on and off the pitch.

The scholarship is open to applicants holding an offer for an on campus (Wembley or Etihad) MSc programme with UCFB’s Global Institute of Sport.

The aim of the scholarship is to create a space of opportunities and professional development of the next generation of women in the football and sports industry, to unlock their potential and help them succeed. The award will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to gain bespoke practical experience of working within the Tongue Tied Management agency environment on variety of projects. 

The Tongue Tied Management Scholarship will be awarded in the form of an internship at the sports agency with all travel and accommodation expenses covered up to a maximum value of £2,000. The internship will be between 1-2 days per week with flexibility to complete it along the studies. Additionally, as a part of this scholarship package, the student will benefit from an ongoing mentoring by Jo Tongue, CEO of Tongue Tied Management and be exposed to a network of professionals in the sports industry. Scholarship recipient will also UCFB sports kit (value of up to £100) from the overall scholarship award.

Scholarship Value:  FT: £2,000 (travel and accommodation expenses associated with the internship with WiF)

PT: £2,000 (travel and accommodation expenses associated with the internship with WiFi)

UCFB and GIS are committed to maximising the employability of its graduates within the exciting football and sports industry. These discounts are open to any UCFB, Buckinghamshire New University and University of East London graduate who has received and accepted an offer to study at postgraduate level with UCFB’s Global Institute of Sport.

FirstPoint USA Alumni Scholarship

Tuition fee Discounts are available to FirstPoint USA alumni for 2021 entry. Once a FirstPoint USA scholar has completed their programme in the USA, they are entitled to apply for a GIS scholarship.
20% fee tuition discount on all Master's programmes, excluding MSc Sports Directorship
15% fee tuition discount on MSc Sports Directorship and CEO of a Sports Organisation
25% fee tuition discount on all Professional Qualifications

How to apply

GIS scholarships are highly limited and competitive with far more applicants than available awards. When applying for a scholarship, you must be a current GIS applicant, holding a firmly accepted offer on a 180 credit master’s programme at GIS for September 2022.

You have until 4th September 2022 to complete your application to be considered for the Jason Roberts Foundation Scholarship.
