UCFB is delighted to have launched a scholarship ahead of the 2024-25 academic year in partnership with Bloomsbury Football.
The Social Mobility and Inclusion Scholarship is in partnership with the London-based grassroots football charity, and will bring many benefits to both organisations as well as the successful applicant.
Bloomsbury Football uses the power of football to improve the lives of young people from a wide range of backgrounds across the capital.
Catering for young players from 18 months to 18 years, ‘no-one is turned away,’ and ‘everyone is welcome, regardless of ability to pay or play.’
The Social Mobility and Inclusion Scholarship, in partnership with Bloomsbury Football, is open to any prospective UCFB student on any of our sports industry-tailored undergraduate degree courses.
The scholarship, for UCFB’s September 2024 intake, is awarded to one student who can show a commitment to increasing representation of people from a diverse range of backgrounds within sport, and encourage an environment where everyone can achieve a sense of belonging and pursue their goals.
The recipient of the scholarship will receive an award in the value of up to £1,500 as well as work experience with Bloomsbury Football alongside their UCFB studies.
The industry experience with Bloomsbury Football will be a maximum of 19 hours per month, allowing the student to maintain a good balance with university life and workload.
Other benefits from the scholarship include enrolment onto a training and skills development course, worth up to £400.
These courses could focus on such areas as public speaking, EDI training or coaching qualifications.
More money, through a further development allowance worth up to £1,000, will also be granted to the successful scholar.
This money can be spent through placements, opportunities through UCFB or even attending a GIS Global Sports Summit.
There will also be the opportunity to attend events with UCFB partners, and the student will receive a UCFB sports kit worth up to £100.
To be eligible for this scholarship, students can be enrolling on any of UCFB’s undergraduate courses.
Applications are encouraged from students who identify as a member of a historically underrepresented community in higher education or sport.
Applicants will be asked to demonstrate understanding of equality and contributions to inclusion initiatives.
Club football manager at Bloomsbury Football, Josh Arnold, is very pleased about the launch of this scholarship.
Josh, who is a UCFB graduate in BA (Hons) Sports Business and Coaching, said: “We are delighted that Bloomsbury Football are partnered with UCFB, providing their graduates with opportunities to transition into full-time roles with us.”
