Sports industry professionals from across Greater Manchester flocked to Old Trafford to celebrate the official launch event of the UCFB and Global Institute of Sport Manchester Campus.

The official launch event of the campus took place at Old Trafford on the evening of Thursday, November 9, with many of UCFB’s partners and other guests in attendance.

Hosted by Mark Clemmit, attendees heard about many of the benefits to UCFB and GIS students that the campus expansion brings.

This was followed by a panel discussion on the new campus, which included:

  • Brendan Flood – Chairman of UCFB
  • Andrea Clifton – Chief Executive of the English Schools Football Association
  • Sean Dyche – Manager of Everton Football Club
  • Stephen Wild – Managing Director of MediaCityUK

After the panel, those attending were then able to network and learn more about the campus, its benefits and the impact it is already making across the North-West and beyond.

Andrea Clifton said: “UCFB’s growth has been absolutely phenomenal, it must be unprecedented in the sector.

“It’s really great to be seeing specific centres being set up for specific curriculum areas that will help in the investment of facilities, that sense of teamwork among students following those subjects and bringing in employers in those sectors.

“Manchester is a really, really vibrant city. It’s multicultural, it’s diverse, there’s loads of things to do outside of your study time.

“It is iconic in terms of sport, and if you are interested in sport then why would you not want to come to one of the greatest sporting cities in the world?”
